Just a quick post about The Omega Device

It’s a little later in the day than I’d normally post anything, and this is coming at you pretty much as raw as it gets, so forgive any errors or prattling on I might do.

I just wanted to let everyone know The Omega Device is available for purchase on the Kindle Store, and is available for “rent” on Kindle unlimited and the like. Also, the first 4.5 chapters are free by clicking the book cover to “look inside” so you can try before you buy.

Also, my Patreon page is live for anyone wanting to contribute to keep my work coming in addition to, or instead of, buying my book. There are some pretty basic rewards up now, but if I end up well-funded, more stuff will be added.

If you can’t, or don’t wish to, purchase or donate, but still want to help out, you can always share my site with others via wordpress, facebook, or twitter.

That’s all I’ve got for now, just wanted to give everyone a heads-up in case you weren’t aware of some of these facts. Have a great night, and thanks for stopping by!

A quick update for your Labor Day.

I’ll do my best to keep this brief so everyone can get back to their burgers and brews (or if you’re not American, your after-work defrag time)

As you may have noticed, there’s a new header image at the top of the page. For the moment, this is a static item advertising my new Patreon page. In essence, I’ve decided to humbly request contributions from anyone wishing to contribute less (or more!) than a simple ebook’s price. The Link is just below it to the right.

In return for your support, (Thank you in advance!) there’s some cool rewards, with more to come as soon as I’m able to extend them.

While The Omega Device will be out sometime tomorrow for all whom wish to purchase it, (Amazon never gave me a straight answer on precise time of day) I expect I’ll be relying more heavily on Patreon than book sales. However, rest assured that more books are on their way soon, and the weekly posts will keep coming! (Tomorrow’s short story is called Apex, for anyone wanting to know ahead of time.)

On top of that, I may also be adding a regular Wednesday post, though I’m not certain yet. More on that in the coming days.

So there it is, short and sweet. Give me money and I get to keep giving you stories. Pretty straightforward, eh? Anywho, enjoy your burgers, brews, and defrag time!

The Omega Device release date and more!

Forgive this post if it turns out a little raw, it’s coming straight from my brain (and heart.) Usually, I write things ahead of time and then sit on them for a few days before posting them. Not this. There’s a reason for that, but I’ll come to that later…

For now, The Omega Device is up for preorder on the Kindle store! By following this link you can pre-purchase it, or if you’re iffy about preorders of things (and I can understand that) just bookmark the page and return on September 6th to pick up your ecopy.

For now, the book will only have a digital release. Why? Because I am self-publishing and cannot afford physical printing, BUT providing the book is successful enough, I will do my best to have it printed.

In addition to this release, I will be launching a Patreon page in the next week or so. If you don’t want to buy the book, (you should, it’s pretty awesome) but would like to see my work continue coming, this is the best alternative. Committing even a dollar a month will help me to continue producing my work and allow me to add more– and trust me, I’m nothing if not full of ideas.

As for why this post is raw, well, needless to say things haven’t been great, personally speaking. Between medical and other issues, the last few weeks have been sort of harrowing, and even though releasing this book is kind of terrifying, it’s also exciting as hell and I couldn’t do it without the support of all of you kind people. So I wanted to take a minute to, as sincerely as possible, show my gratitude.

I was kind of hoping I’d have more to say there, but I digress, my gratitude is eternal, please know that.

So, there’s my short little thing I wanted to say, straight from the brain; The Omega Device, a Patreon Page, and my thanks. If you follow my twitter or facebook, (and you should, ’cause I’m great) you may see me mentioning the book and Patreon a lot in the next few weeks. Sorry if it comes off as spammy, but I’m trying to market it, and I’ve chosen to post a couple times a day in lieu of spending obscene amounts of money on advertising (that I don’t have anyhow.)

So, thank you in advance to everyone who donates or buys my book, and also thank you to everyone who comes by to read my stories. Your regularly scheduled programming will not be effected by this, so make sure to check back for more short stories, poems, and novellas!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO THE LOGBOOK!

So here it is, a year since I began regularly posting to the Logbook. Essentially, a year since its birth. A lot’s been said, or rather typed, and I couldn’t be more pleased by the result. I’m eternally grateful to everyone who’s read my work. It always makes my day when I receive comments, likes, and follows, or see the stats page with its ever-growing numbers. I couldn’t imagine doing anything else with my life but writing, and I sincerely hope the past year is just the start of things.

With all of that in mind, let’s get down to brass tacks: I’ve posted tons of work, and will continue to, but there’s something else lingering on the horizon– or rather, a few things. First and foremost is my book, The Omega Device.

For those unaware, I’ve written a book (several actually) that is about to be self-published. Why? Simply, I don’t care to wait for agents and publishers anymore. I’ve put over five years of blood, sweat, and yes even tears, into this book. It’s the culmination of a lot of things in my life. From the time of its first draft to now its final, I’ve struggled to find purchase as both a writer and a person. Now however, I feel I can take a leap of faith and maybe not splat on the ground quite so terribly as I might have before.

And that is largely due to all of you, readers.

The next thing, is the Logbook Archives. If you’re a regular to the site, or simply have explored beyond the main page, you may have seen the Logbook Archives page which lists all of my posted works. Its usually updated every few weeks. You may also have seen the previous posts where I’ve talked about collecting them into an ebook. Well I just want to assure everyone, that will soon be happening. It will be released shortly after The Omega Device, and will be found wherever it can be hosted.

Lastly, there is one other thing. I’ve always tried to refrain from talking too much about money. I don’t care for the subject, and it turns a lot of people off (myself included.) That said, it’s always going to be something I have to address as a starving artist-type. So to make it easier for all involved, in addition to my book release, I will also be starting a Patreon page for those who want to donate to keep me writing. (If you don’t want to donate, please disregard this and buy the book instead.)

Before I go, I also want to say; (though I don’t want to get too mushy, or personal, because as I’ve said, I prefer my writing to speak for itself.) It is extremely heartwarming and humbling to have put part of myself “out there” and not have it bludgeoned into oblivion. Most of my life I’ve struggled with extreme anxiety. For a writer, that’s a dangerous condition. Against my better self-preservation instincts, I began to post what I’d been working on for years. The confidence you, readers, have helped to impart has allowed me to continue on to new works that have surpassed even my wildest expectations.

As much as I do it for myself, I also write for all of you. I have a strangely, innate ability to distance myself from my work enough to read it as a reader might. I’ve found myself both laughing at and along with myself, being thrilled, suspended over precipices, and strung along excited with the rest of you. I continue to do what I do so that we can share in that together, even if part of me also does it to remain sane.

So before I belabor things too much (too late!) I want to say thank you, and I hope the next year’s even more fruitful than the last. Thank you for an amazing first year!

P.S: Just so you all know I’m not just talk, I present the cover to The Omega Device, coming soon to a digital bookstore near you! (I’m still in the process of purchasing the font rights, so don’t sue me.)

Coming Soon!
