Poetry-Thing Thursday: Burdened Shoulders

The figure of an adult,
and the mind of a child:
what a pitiful waste.
What an unfortunate slight.

To have been born with a silver spoon,
tucked firmly beneath one’s tongue,
so that no matter one’s ignorance,
they might always carry on.

We’ve surpassed evolution.
Made obsolete natural selection.
All by virtue of intelligence,
and this is the price we pay.

What a burden!
To live the life of one,
whose whole world is fortune,
and opportunity.
And then for that one,
to besmirch themselves,
and choose mental mediocrity.

What is the definition of a fool?
The one graced with all,
yet still achieving nothing,
or the one whom allowed such?

The answer,
is as simple as it appears.

So take pride in your mind,
for it may rest above burdened shoulders,
but so long,
as it is put,
to good use,
it shall never be squandered.

That is more than can be said of some…

Poetry-Thing Thursday: But a Whisper.

It Begins,
as always,
with a whisper.
Then like tendrils,
unfurling in the Earth,
the whisper echoes.

It becomes,
a ripple,
in a lake–
emanates outward in waves,
to flow along rivers,
that meet an ocean downstream.

There those waves,
become a tsunami,
that across a sea of time,
floods land with the strength,
of a billion new whispers.

Only after,
can the waters recede.
Evaporate.
To fall once more,
into the ocean,
and ripple all over again.

So here I stand,
across time,
with a whisper,
perched on my lips.

If I spoke,
the water would ripple,
and you across time,
would feel my strength.
Devotion of spirit.
And certainty of mind–

That it takes but a whisper,
to conquer,
the oceans, the rivers, and time.

Poetry-Thing Thursday: Our Revolution Begins

Gluttonous greed,
slothful of mind.
Their sinful misdeed,
taints all human-kind.

Rebellion at night,
to sleep in the day.
And never to fight,
the war in their way.

Ready thine fists,
and stiffen your lips,
for their game’s full of twists.
And theirs spears’ pointed tips,

will aim for the heart,
and whether from thrust or throw,
The bleeding will start.
Our revolution begins, no–

Not in the streets,
but in the heart.
I need no repeats,
we all know our part.

So beware of the creed,
and those of the kind,
whom lustful with greed,
care not for your mind,

nor for your heart,
or its loving seed,
for they only chart,
their passage of life in greed.
